On July 27th, the Technical University of Munich awarded Prof. Karsten Reuter the title of Distinguished Affiliated Professorship of TUM, for his outstanding work in the field of theoretical Chemistry, as well as being one of the main coordinating forces to create and establish the research cluster e-conversion, forming a unique competence network under the roof of TUM and LMU.
Vice President of Research and Innovation Prof. Gerhard Kramer highlighted that:
“Karsten Reuter's work on multiscale modeling and simulation of surface and interfacial systems has been widely recognized internationally. The key is that a wide range of scales is represented: from elemental atomic and molecular reactions to the processes in a reactor or a fuel cell. The time scales range from femtoseconds, in which elemental steps occur at the active site, to catalyst deactivation, which for industrial catalysts takes place over a period of months or years. This roughly outlines the dimensions in which the multiscale modeling and data science approaches of Karsten Reuter’s research play out. “
We congratulate Prof. Karsten Reuter and look further to ongoing and future cooperation with him on various research fields.
