Talent Management and Diversity
The TUM School of Natural Sciences strives for a culture of appreciation, openness and diversity. The diversity of researchers, staff and students makes our School an innovative and dynamic organization.
Are you a TUM member? You can find more info in the Intranet of the TUM School of Natural Sciences, in the space for Talent Management and Diversity.
To better develop and implement our projects, the School has established a Talent Management and Diversity Council (TMD Council), which includes representatives of staff, professors and students, as well as our women's and gender equality officer(s) and people representing disabled persons.
The list of current TMD Council members is available in our TMD-Intranet.
Our long-term target is an improved level of information related to all matters concerning career development, gender and diversity.
You can find information on our working groups in the TMD intranet.
This board meets twice a year, normally at the beginning of each semester.
Child care
Illnesses, last-minute appointments and commitments outside of core care hours often present parents with a major challenge. We are happy to support you with the following offers of flexible childcare: nurseries and family rooms, changing tables, and quiet rooms or breastfeeding facilities.
In the Chemistry building (room CH26501), there is a children's room which is open to all members of the School. Here's more information about it.
The room can serve several functions at the same time:
Expectant or nursing mothers can find a place to relax here. Also, parents can work while their children play. Small meetings with a few students or employees are also possible. The room can also be a pure play space to bridge waiting times during meetings, conferences or long periods that go beyond the opening hours of regular childcare. Our aim is to create family-friendly working conditions.
Finally, the room can also be used for childcare by professional staff. This childcare is provided in cooperation with the agency 'Rund um Familie' (R.U.F.).
Below, you can find more detailed information about the equipment of the children's room and the usage guidelines. It is also possible to book the children's room and the care in it.
The children's room is centrally located on the first floor of the faculty in room CH26501, opposite the cafeteria. It is open for use by students, academic and non-academic employees, as well as guests with their children.
If you have any questions about the children's room, you can contact the School Women's Representative, Oksana Storcheva (frauenbeauftragte@ch.tum.de).
Please note: Children with acute illnesses cannot be cared for in the children's room! Any cleaning and disinfection costs incurred will be charged to the parents of affected children!
The children's room is equipped with everything necessary to provide children of different ages with varied activities:
- a play kitchen
- various toys (building blocks, Duplo bricks, children's games, wooden train, abacus, ...) and various children's books
- a play rug
- two couches
- children's crockery and cutlery
- washbasin
- changing table
Additionally, a microwave is available in close proximity (CH26509).
The room is also ideal for parents who want to work while their child plays in the nursery.
The School has KidsBoxes, one in the Chemistry building and one in the Physics building. These boxes are available to all members of the School in the respective buildings. The KidsBox user is responsible for the supervision of the child and the use of the KidsBox is at the user's own risk.
You can find more information in German on this page.
