Flexible child care

Slide 1 of 2

Illnesses, last-minute appointments and commitments outside of core care hours often present parents with a major challenge. We are happy to support you with the following offers of flexible childcare: nurseries and family rooms, changing tables, and quiet rooms or breastfeeding facilities.

TUM supports employees with children of all ages and provides children's/family rooms, breastfeeding and nappy-changing rooms, and highchairs at various locations.

Further information on the children's rooms, Kidboxes and other rooms of our School are available in the intranet of the TUM School of Natural Sciences, in the space for Talent Management und Diversity.

Kidsbox

The School has two Kidsboxes, one in the Chemistry building and one in the Physics building. These boxes are available to all members of the School in the respective buildings. The Kidsbox user is responsible for the supervision of the child and the use of the Kidsbox is at the user's own risk.

Flexible childcare in the TUM family rooms

In some family rooms at TUM, flexible childcare can be offered on an hourly basis in the form of external childcare. This service supports the compatibility of work or study and family life, but is not intended as a substitute for regular childcare. The caregivers are organized by the external agency Rund um die Familie (R.U.F.). The TUM Family Service covers the costs for the agency's placement fees. Further information can be found in the following PDF document (March 2025).

TUM4Kids

TUM4Kids is a project of TUM Family Service, which is intended to contribute to a better compatibility of family and career or studies at our university. With the help of the online platform, you can easily and quickly search for suitable babysitters or tutors. Whether to overcome care shortage or learning difficulties at school, for short-term childcare/turoring needs, during examination periods or conferences. The assignments can be flexibly arranged and are possible for children of different ages.

And if you are a student or employee and would like to earn some extra money, TUM4Kids is also the right place for you.
