Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Medal for Prof. Christian Pfleiderer

Research, Physics, Award | 05.12.2024

On December 5, 2024, during the "Dies Academicus" of TUM, Prof. Christian Pfleiderer was awarded the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Medal.

Prof. Dr. Christian Pfleiderer received the 2024 Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Medal in recognition of his "outstanding research in the field of experimental solid-state physics, his significant contributions to the establishment of the TUM Center for Quantum Engineering, as well as his role as Scientific Director of the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Research Neutron Source."

The TUM presents the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Medal to individuals who, through their exceptional achievements in science, technology or medicine, have rendered a great service to the university in their capacity as outstanding lecturers and researchers.

The award is named after the pioneer of German Neutron Physics, Heinz Maier-Leibnitz, one of the most eminent scientists in the university’s history. Maier-Leibnitz is most famous for having developed the scientific and technical concept for the first neutron source in Germany (the so-called “Atom-Ei” or “atomic egg”, 1957/58), located in Garching.

The TUM School of Natural Sciences congratulates Prof. Christian Pfleiderer on this prestigious award.
