Results of the University Elections in July 2025

Elections, Public Outreach, Bioscience, Chemistry, Physics | 21.07.2025

NAT represented in the TUM Senate. New Department Heads for Physics and Bioscience.

University elections were held at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in July 2025. In addition to the TUM Senate, elections took place in many Schools. At the TUM School of Natural Sciences (NAT), the School Council, the Dean, and the Department Heads were newly elected. Image: Andreas Heddergott / TUM

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) held its regular university elections in July 2025. New representatives were elected to the Senate, the School Councils, and the Department Heads of the TUM School of Natural Sciences.

 

TUM Senate: Strong Representation from NAT
The TUM School of Natural Sciences will be represented in the TUM Senate by Prof. Andreas Bausch. Prof. Christian Pfleiderer was elected as an alternate member. In the group of academic staff and doctoral candidates, Dr. Josef Homolka from NAT was successfully elected.

 

School Council of the TUM School of Natural Sciences

In the group of full-time professors, the following individuals were elected to the NAT School Council:

  • Prof. Frank Pollmann
  • Prof. Ulrich Heiz
  • Prof. Elisa Resconi
  • Prof. Cathleen Zeymer
  • Prof. Franz Hagn
  • Prof. Thorsten Bach

In the group of academic staff and doctoral candidates, Dr. Markus Drees and Dr. Martin Haslbeck were elected. The group of technical and administrative staff will be represented by Richard Wetzel. The student body elected two dedicated representatives: Ismaël Brunet Pac and Florian Fuchs.

 

Dean and Department Heads Elected

Prof. Johannes Barth was re-elected as Dean of the TUM School of Natural Sciences. We warmly congratulate Prof. Barth on his election and wish him continued success in his role!

The following Department Heads were also elected:

  • Department of Bioscience: Prof. Johannes Buchner
  • Department of Chemistry: Prof. Tom Nilges (current officeholder, Alternate: Prof. Roland Fischer)
  • Department of Physics: Prof. Frank Pollmann (Alternate: Prof. Elisa Resconi)
