CGTN Europe’s Gabrielle Lawrence visited Technical University Munich to talk with Prof. Thomas Brück about the development of an innovative material that could decarbonize construction.
As one of the most in-demand building materials, concrete and steel produces approximately 7% of anthropogenic CO2 emissions worldwide. The development of new materials that are carbon negative are possible by using marine photosynthetic organisms that can replace traditional carbon fibers as well as a source of biofuel.
The short documentary explores the algae, a photosythetic organism that converts sunlight to energy and material, its behavior and cultivation, and how to optimize the production process at TUM.
