GDCh Interview

The „Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh)“ awards Prof. Dr. Thomas Fässler from the Technical University of Munich the Arfvedson-Schlenk Prize, endowed with 7500 euros. The prize is sponsored by Albermarle Germany GmbH. Prof. Fässler receives this award for his outstanding contributions to lithium-rich intermetallic compounds, which could contribute to the development of efficient and safe high-performance lithium batteries. He investigates innovative material classes with potential applications in energy storage, energy conversion, solar cells, superconductors, and catalysts. The Arfvedson-Schlenk Prize is awarded to Fässler for his significant contributions to Zintl phases and lithium-rich intermetallic compounds. These materials could be of great value as solid-state ion conductors for safe high-performance lithium batteries. The award ceremony took place on September 4th 2023 at the "GDCh-Wissenschaftsforum Chemie" in Leipzig.
