Prof. Shigeyoshi Inoue, Chair of Silicon Chemistry at TUM School of Natural Sciences, has been recognized for his distinguished contributions to the field of silicon chemistry by the American Chemical Society (ACS). The Frederick Stanley Kipping Award, named for pioneer of silicon polymers chemistry, is bestowed every two years at the ACS meeting in the United States.
Inoue, who was appointed professor at TUM in 2015, chairs a research group with a focus on silicon research. The group combines experimental and theoretical approaches to better understand low-valent main group element compounds. Despite his established excellence in the field, Prof. Inoue was surprised to receive the award so early in his research career, remarking, “I’m truly honored and grateful to be recognized at this stage”.
The TUM School of Natural Sciences extends its heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Inoue on this award.
