Result of the election of the NAT Gender Equality Office

Diversity, Bioscience, Chemistry, Physics | 10.12.2024

Dr. Claudia Schmidt, Prof. Sherry Suyu and Dr. Ana Messias were elected as the School's 1st, 2nd and 3rd Gender Equality Officers.

On December 4, 2024, the nominations list for the role of NAT Gender Equality Officer was accepted in the School Council, thus filling this important role to promote gender equality at our School. The three-year term of office begins on October 1st in the election year.

Dr. Claudia Schmidt, Prof. Sherry Suyu and Dr. Ana Messias were elected as the School's 1st, 2nd and 3rd Gender Equality Officers. They come from all three research departments of NAT. The role is open to any full-time university lecturer or full-time scientific staff, regardless of gender.

What are the areas of responsibility of this function?

  • Membership of NAT internal committees
  • Participation in appointment procedures
  • Advice for women scientists/students and other gender minorities
  • Outreach work and sensibilization within NAT School
  • Collaboration with the NAT Vice Dean of Talent Management and Diversity, the NAT Talent Management and Diversity Unit, and other TUM institutions

All other full-time women university lecturers and full-time women scientific staff at NAT School are on the list as deputies and support the work of appointment committees in order to ensure a gender-equitable assessment of the applicants and to be able to make a meaningful contribution through their subject proximity.

The regular term of office of the Gender Equality Officers and deputies is three years each.

The School of Natural Sciences offers heartfelt thanks to Dr. Oksana Storcheva and Dr. Nina Bach for their commitment and guidance in their roles as 1st and 3rd Gender Equality Officers in past years.
