The Technical University of Munich (TUM) has moved up to 28th place in the QS World University Ranking. For a decade, it has been consistently the best German university in this ranking and continues to extend its lead. The British higher education service provider Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) conducts surveys among academics and employers regarding the quality of universities. Additionally, they evaluate the frequency of citations of research studies, student-to-faculty ratio, success of graduates, proportion of international students and staff, international research collaborations, and sustainability aspects.
TUM improved by nine places from 2023 to rank 28 and is the only German university in the top 50. In the QS World University Rankings by Subject, TUM achieved 19th place in engineering and 23rd place in natural sciences. In seven subjects, it is among the top 25, including 18th place in physics/astronomy and 20th place in chemistry. In another eight subjects, it is in the top 50.
Other rankings regularly confirm the internationally outstanding quality of TUM in research, teaching and innovation. For instance, it is among the top 5 in "Digital Leaders in Higher Education" and ranks 13th in the "Global University Employability Ranking."
